Declutter and Unspend Updated!

I met my January goal of tidying up Declutter and Unspend! YAY! Good momentum thus far! (The content just needed a bit of rewriting, and there was a code bug in there I had to squash too, LOL)

The next goal will be is to rework and relaunch my gaming site, The Gamer’s Repose. Proposed changes so far:

  • Probably archive most if not all of the “game guides” pages within the individual game sections
  • Write more articles for the “Gaming Tips” sections
  • Combine all lists of links into a masterlist, and sort it better
  • Condense “Site Info” into one page
  • Condense Sitemap
  • Completely redesign layout

I’ve already started on a lot of this work (like the layout, combining and condensing), but it still needs a lot of love. I want to make it an unusual gaming site, more focused on the life of a gamer, how to take care of collections, how to have more fun with it…any ideas for articles along that line that you’d like to see? Send it through the contact form!

The Year Ahead for WMW.oRG

Phew, can you believe it’s already 2020?! Lots of things have been happening IRL, but I did want y’all to know I’ve got some great stuff planned for this year:

  • February 2020: Revamp and relaunch my gaming site, The Gamer’s Repose
  • March 2020: Update my music site, Mellifluous
  • April 2020: Launch of my Seto Kaiba fansite, tentatively called Progress
  • May 2020: Rework and update my faith site, Living Words
  • June-August 2020: Time off, because a wedding and honeymoon could be happening! :D!
  • September 2020: Resume work on my Eighth Doctor fansite, Absentia
  • October 2020: Rework and relaunch my ASMR site, Unwind
  • November 2020: Resume work on my Sound of Music fansite, Something Good
  • December 2020: Perhaps the launch of a fun new project that’s currently in development, if time permits!

YAY I might actually get most of this done this year! Message me and let me know what you’re working on this year 😀

New Host and Actual Updates, Wow

Things have been a bit busy behind the scenes here at WMWorg! Recently, I found out that my previous host was going to be tripling the price of my plan, so I purchased new hosting with Teacake.org and moved there officially this past week. There were a few bugs to iron out, but Masao (the owner of Teacake.org) was super awesome with troubleshooting and getting me settled in. YAY for great web buddies ♥

Also, I’ve been doing a bit of cleanup work around the main page, network page, and links page. It had been almost two years since I updated the links page, but admittedly the last year and a half has been pretty hectic IRL, so it’s understandable. Now, at least, everything is tidy again, and my newest site The Other Slipper has its official place on my network page!

Lastly, I had hoped to release a project on October 25th, but work on that has been delayed due to my health. Hopefully I will get feeling better ASAP and can finish it, because it’s a labor of love and I can’t wait to show it off!

Updates, Updates Everywhere!

OKAY, so it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything! Let me catch you up on everything that’s happened within my world:

SITE UPDATES

First, there’s a new site in town here: The Other Slipper, shedding new light on Disney’s 1950 adaptation of Cinderella. It was created for the One Page One Month marathon over at Amassment. I am ridiculously proud of this site, since it covers an unusual topic that’s been very close to my heart since I was a child. It is all on one page, so all you have to do is scroll to enjoy the content. Let me know what you think about this new site in the comments on this post, or in the “guestbook” (click “Guestbook” at the top right of this page).

Second, I’ve got a couple of ongoing projects I’m doing–Turning Toward Day is my quasi-blog with some positive thoughts/encouragement, frank talk about faith, and honest life struggles, etc. Also, over on my Instagram page, I started making ASMR content this summer, and I’m now doing videos with serialized short stories on there! Check ’em out when you get a chance–this has been a LOT of fun to do and people seem to enjoy the stories so far.

Third, I hope to finish a couple of sites I’m still working on. I still have lots of work to do on my Seto Kaiba fansite, and I’m also participating in a Sailor Moon marathon, with a planned site about Mamoru Chiba. Who knows whether I’ll actually have brain energy/stop procrastinating long enough to finish both of these, but I’d like to!

LIFE UPDATES

First, I had a very busy summer health-wise. In the space of a month (May 25th-June 25th), I traveled out of state to an awesome gynecologist, discovered I had a 7cm mass in my left ovary and “heterogeneous” tissue in my uterus, and had laparoscopic surgery and a D&C to remove the mass and the weird tissue. Thankfully, nothing was cancerous (that was the big worry, and was why we had to move so fast), but I did lose my left ovary in the process, since the mass turned out to be a giant mucous cyst that pretty much ate all the normal ovarian tissue. (I had no idea cysts could eat ovaries, but apparently they can!) My surgery was June 25th, and it took a full six weeks to recover completely because one of my stitches busted, but it was nothing serious. I’m doing a lot better now and not having nearly any of the symptoms I suffered with for four and a half years, though there may be some trouble ahead regarding hormone levels. Hoping everything normalizes out!

Second, I never posted about this on my domain when it happened and I’m not sure why, but I got engaged!! It happened on December 4th, 2017–the proposal was sweet and simple, just us, no fanfare, just like my awesome fiance. I honestly had no idea he was going to do it, and apparently he’d been planning and saving for it with his mom’s help for about 4 months. We haven’t set a date yet due to all the health weirdness and uncertainty, but now that I’m recovered and actually working (!), hopefully we can plan on a date soon. :D!!

Third, I started professional voice lessons in November of last year, and my voice teacher thinks I have a lot to work with and that it could take me to the big time. It’s taking a while to train out all the bad habits and actually free my voice, but from what I’ve done so far, I can say I’m super excited by the possibilities!

TL;DR

In chronological order since fall of last year, I made a blog, started professional voice lessons, got engaged, started working on a couple of site ideas, had major surgery, and created one new site! Whew, that’s a lot! LOL!

Updated: Mellifluous and Unwind

Finally managed to do a little maintenance and updating on my music site, Mellifluous, and my ASMR site, Unwind. Mellifluous now boasts 5 “hot new” songs from my collection, audible through YouTube videos, and Unwind has 67 new featured videos! Wooo!

In other news, I am still hard at work on my Seto Kaiba fansite and hope to release that later this year if time and health permit. (I’ve been facing possible surgery so things have kinda been crazy around the house :/ )

Hard at Work on Absentia and The Impossible Dream!

I’ve been quiet about my work on Absentia (my Eighth Doctor site), but that doesn’t mean I quit working on it entirely! (I did have some slowdowns due to lack of inspiration and motivation, but I think I’m fighting through those now :D)

Anyhow, I’ve added a couple new articles to Absentia: PTSD, the Eighth Doctor, and Me, and A Wacky Theory about the TV Movie. Check ’em out, let me know if they look weird or are hard to read, and let me know what you think about the topics I’ve covered! 😀

Also, I’m working behind the scenes on my Olaf site, The Impossible Dream (not going to link it yet because what is currently up is kind of embarrassing slkdjflksjdf). It got nominated for a Shrine Spotlight award over at Amassment, so I’m newly motivated to get this thing shined up and beefed up with more content, better layout/fonts, etc.!

The Terrible Tooth and December Plans

My December plans are a bit more scaled back due to some unforeseen circumstances (see below), but I still hope to finish Absentia. Let’s just say it was a good thing I had so much energy and got so much done in the early parts of November!

I am, however, on the mend now, and I’m looking forward to completing the site for my favorite Doctor before the end of the year. I actually have a few new articles I’d like to add, too!

As for what happened to me these last couple of weeks:

Trigger Warning: Health stuff, possible grossness

Starting on the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving, I got hit with terrible jaw pain…which evolved into terrible tooth pain on Saturday…which turned out to be a severe abscess in my left bottom jaw, finally discovered on Sunday morning. A cracked tooth that had been heavily filled and rebuilt in February had never been quite right afterward, and unbeknownst to me, decay and infection had continued under the filling. Despite this, the tooth had suffered in silence before the infection finally spilled out into my face, swelling my cheek and jaw and making it impossible to eat or even clean the tooth without stabbing pain. Neither cold nor heat would soothe this pain; only 800 milligrams of ibuprofen would even begin to handle its throbbing.

I thus spent most of the Thanksgiving holiday cradling my face, taking obscene amounts of Valium and Advil, and sobbing/screaming my head off, especially at night (occasionally contemplating whether bashing my face against the doorjamb would help anything). But thankfully, after 2 (TWO!!) trips to the emergency room, I finally got antibiotics enough to start easing my suffering, and got a root canal in the tooth two days later. The panic I felt at having to have a dental procedure done was eased much by my awesome dentist (and his suggestion to take a couple Valium before the appointment); even though I hate having dental work done, I wanted to be free of the pain more than anything. The procedure took 2 hours and 15 minutes (the poor tooth was apparently very bad off), but after the numbing shots I didn’t feel a thing! (It’s oddly great to say the numbing shots were the worst part LOL)

Now I am about 6 days post-procedure, and I am able to eat almost normally again, brush my teeth without yelping, and able to sleep on my left side without discomfort! Whee! (And it’s SUPER nice to not be restricted to pudding, soup, and mashed potatoes LOL)

A Look Back and a Look Forward

Whew, it’s November already! I still have a couple of projects in the hopper for 2016, but here’s what I’ve accomplished this year so far:

Wow, I didn’t think I’d accomplished QUITE that much this year, but it’s been a busy 10 months at WMWorg! March was my most productive month, though–weird!

Looking ahead, this is what I plan for November and December:

Whew, looks like a lot of work (and it probably will be, not going to lie), but I’m excited about it too–I’m not going to actively build any new sites or do any huge revamps in November, so I’m going to be able to do more little tasks around the domain. Check back for updates!

Random Puttering, As Usual

In the days since the release of Version 15, I’ve gone back and edited a few things here and there, such as:

Ahead for WithinMyWorld.Org during this summer (time permitting):

  • Finish my in-progress Eighth Doctor site for the Construction Zone event at Amassment
  • Revamp and rename my faith site (it will likely be relocated to a new subfolder as well)

Stay tuned right here or at @wmworg for the upcoming changes!

Upcoming: Eighth Doctor Fansite

I’m currently hard at work behind the scenes on my Eighth Doctor fansite!

Right now, I’ve gotten two or three articles in first draft form and have gotten some pictures for the layout, so I’m nowhere near done but I’m on the way. My target date for releasing the site is May 14th, 2016, 20 years to the day that the Eighth Doctor movie aired on TV in America, but if I can get it done by the end of May at least, it’ll be great. 😀 So excited!!
