Updates, Updates Everywhere!

OKAY, so it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything! Let me catch you up on everything that’s happened within my world:

SITE UPDATES

First, there’s a new site in town here: The Other Slipper, shedding new light on Disney’s 1950 adaptation of Cinderella. It was created for the One Page One Month marathon over at Amassment. I am ridiculously proud of this site, since it covers an unusual topic that’s been very close to my heart since I was a child. It is all on one page, so all you have to do is scroll to enjoy the content. Let me know what you think about this new site in the comments on this post, or in the “guestbook” (click “Guestbook” at the top right of this page).

Second, I’ve got a couple of ongoing projects I’m doing–Turning Toward Day is my quasi-blog with some positive thoughts/encouragement, frank talk about faith, and honest life struggles, etc. Also, over on my Instagram page, I started making ASMR content this summer, and I’m now doing videos with serialized short stories on there! Check ’em out when you get a chance–this has been a LOT of fun to do and people seem to enjoy the stories so far.

Third, I hope to finish a couple of sites I’m still working on. I still have lots of work to do on my Seto Kaiba fansite, and I’m also participating in a Sailor Moon marathon, with a planned site about Mamoru Chiba. Who knows whether I’ll actually have brain energy/stop procrastinating long enough to finish both of these, but I’d like to!

LIFE UPDATES

First, I had a very busy summer health-wise. In the space of a month (May 25th-June 25th), I traveled out of state to an awesome gynecologist, discovered I had a 7cm mass in my left ovary and “heterogeneous” tissue in my uterus, and had laparoscopic surgery and a D&C to remove the mass and the weird tissue. Thankfully, nothing was cancerous (that was the big worry, and was why we had to move so fast), but I did lose my left ovary in the process, since the mass turned out to be a giant mucous cyst that pretty much ate all the normal ovarian tissue. (I had no idea cysts could eat ovaries, but apparently they can!) My surgery was June 25th, and it took a full six weeks to recover completely because one of my stitches busted, but it was nothing serious. I’m doing a lot better now and not having nearly any of the symptoms I suffered with for four and a half years, though there may be some trouble ahead regarding hormone levels. Hoping everything normalizes out!

Second, I never posted about this on my domain when it happened and I’m not sure why, but I got engaged!! It happened on December 4th, 2017–the proposal was sweet and simple, just us, no fanfare, just like my awesome fiance. I honestly had no idea he was going to do it, and apparently he’d been planning and saving for it with his mom’s help for about 4 months. We haven’t set a date yet due to all the health weirdness and uncertainty, but now that I’m recovered and actually working (!), hopefully we can plan on a date soon. :D!!

Third, I started professional voice lessons in November of last year, and my voice teacher thinks I have a lot to work with and that it could take me to the big time. It’s taking a while to train out all the bad habits and actually free my voice, but from what I’ve done so far, I can say I’m super excited by the possibilities!

TL;DR

In chronological order since fall of last year, I made a blog, started professional voice lessons, got engaged, started working on a couple of site ideas, had major surgery, and created one new site! Whew, that’s a lot! LOL!
