WOOT! This is a momentous day for WithinMyWorld.org–for the first time, she’s sporting a mobile-friendly and responsive PARALLAX layout! (If you don’t know what parallax is or why anybody would geek out over it, let’s just say parallax is the reason why my site looks so sleek and scrolls so pretty with all the different images. LOL!) I am in love with it and can’t stop scrolling up and down, thinking, “OH WOW I HELPED MAKE THIS???” (If it hadn’t been for that demo I found, I would have never gotten it to work!)
The network page has received a matching facelift, though it was a bit rushed–I couldn’t figure out how to make the silly divs obey me, so I had to use the trusty table tag again. (Hey, if it ain’t broke in most browsers, don’t fix it, right? ROFL) Also, I added a page about this new design over at Disguises, my layout archive.
Y’all, I am SUPER EXCITED about finally being able to make this work! As always, let me know if a few code bugs slipped out while I wasn’t looking, and I hope you enjoy!
HOORAY!!! After months of puttering around behind the scenes, Version 15: Passionate Light is ready to view and explore!
Here’s some of the new sights to see:
Let me know what you think about version 15 in the comments or the guestbook! I’m really happy with it so far! (And as always, if something is displaying strangely on your machine, it’s a good bet that I have no idea it’s happening!! Currently v15 has been tested in the Windows versions of IE, Firefox, and Chrome.)
I finally fixed up the appearance of my network page (where I list all the sites on withinmyworld.org), with the help of Dubiousdisc of Rigelatin.net! I posted a “design challenge” of sorts over at Amassment to help me get unstuck from my design rut, and she graciously provided some inspiration. If you’re looking for an awesome webdesign community, Amassment is the place to be!
(While I was busy fixing up the design, I also realized I had never uploaded info for my most recent shrine, Lux Perpetua, so I added that in, too! Bonus!)
I went through my Projects page and realized that I kind of over-scheduled myself this fall. So, I went through and rearranged, making the page not quite so ambitious–but I’m still going to be releasing a site roughly each month! It’s just that now, my list of sites to do extends far into 2016.
Here are some of the new projects I added:
- Bingbong (Inside Out) – December 2015
- The Eighth Doctor (Doctor Who) – May 2016
- Super Mario RPG (possible) – February 2016
- Waiting for God (possible) – April 2016
Be on the lookout for these! (Dates may change a bit as life happens, but these sites will happen at some point!! LOL)
Go check out the new network look in all its lavender, font-crazed glory! YAY IT WORKS!
Now all that is left is to create my new guestbook’s template (a monumental task because it involves a pile of stinking PHP I don’t care to dig through right now) and to upload the main domain’s version 14 look (which I don’t want to do while the guestbook is still left looking all default and bleh). That, and I have to write up a bit about v14, but I’ll do that once v14 is actually, y’know, live and stuff. LOL
(Okay, so this post should have been combined with the one below it, but I had to test my new WordPress-to-Twitter plugin, so why not?)
Yes, I finally have changed the network page to get rid of a dead link and put a new one on. Also, I linked to my video games site and my novel progress page 🙂 YAY, it’s all tied together now! 😀
Got most of the little fixes complete around the site–still have to work out the odd spacing issue on the webdesign tutorials mini-site, but everything else looks shipshape and Bristol fashion. 😛
Well, except that I forgot to write up version 13’s inspiration paragraph, and I accidentally broke one of the affiliate links… ;_; Okay, okay, I’m continuing to putter around fixing stuff. xD
Let me know what you think about all the various layouts–I did a whole slew of them, for the main domain, the webmistress page, and the Surviving College article series, as well as the webdesign tutorials, as I mentioned above, the links page, the network page, and even the joined fanlistings page. I challenged myself, in each of these layouts, to use colors that don’t usually get used together, and use icon navigation instead of text links. How’d I do? Let me know in the comments!
If you logged onto WMW.org anytime between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM EST, you might have noticed that the navigation appeared to be bouncing around all over the place. That was me, trying to get the navigation to be a little more intuitive, and royally bungling things up in the process. -_-
BUT! I did get it fixed, and now all the little leafy navigation thingies have WORDS to go with them, all the time! WHOOPEE!
Also, since my old-as-grass LJ account is no longer being used as the update journal, I purged it of its networky updates and began again. I have no clue what I’m going to use it for, but I’ll keep it around for randoms.
I updated the network page accordingly, and even spruced up the network links all around. Now, they are more descriptive in their hover text. Woot. 😀
Lastly–check out the Projects page on this little blog for some new possibilities on the horizon…CuriousLittleBird just MIGHT be making a few more new sites in the near future! 😀 😀
