It’s Utter (Coding) Madness!

Currently in the process of creating seven fully-fleshed-out sites, in addition to blogging six days a week. Yep, that’s right, SEVEN sites, and six blog posts a week. :O I think I might just be crazy. Either that, or my content bug is flying around out of control. LOL

The only thing I’m having difficulty with is my layouts for all these sites. Having content is great, but layouts have always bugged me. (Get it? Bug? xD I’m so lame. 😛 ) Hoping my webdesign bug decides to cooperate and help me make pretty layouts to go with all this great content–and soon!

YAY Everything is Fixed; New Projects, Ahoy!

I did finally complete everything that needed fixing around WMW.org. Let me know if you see any other problems, especially in browsers besides Firefox, IE, and Chrome.

Now that v13 is finally live, I can begin working on my (huge) projects list. Here’s what I’m going to be working on for the next few years months:

Fansites:

  • Super Mario RPG
  • British TV Shows:
    • Are You Being Served?
    • Are You Being Served? Again!
    • Waiting for God
    • Downton Abbey
    • Sherlock
  • Dove II (Dawn Granger) from Hawk & Dove comics

And I also have ideas bouncing around for a simple Tumblr theme help site, but I’m not sure if I have the expertise with Tumblr themes yet. LOL

Keep an eye on this blog and Twitter feed to learn about new projects here at WMW.org! (I hope some of them will at least come to fruition before the year’s out… LOL)

Puttering Around WithinMyWorld.org

Got most of the little fixes complete around the site–still have to work out the odd spacing issue on the webdesign tutorials mini-site, but everything else looks shipshape and Bristol fashion. 😛

Well, except that I forgot to write up version 13’s inspiration paragraph, and I accidentally broke one of the affiliate links… ;_; Okay, okay, I’m continuing to putter around fixing stuff. xD

Let me know what you think about all the various layouts–I did a whole slew of them, for the main domain, the webmistress page, and the Surviving College article series, as well as the webdesign tutorials, as I mentioned above, the links page, the network page, and even the joined fanlistings page. I challenged myself, in each of these layouts, to use colors that don’t usually get used together, and use icon navigation instead of text links. How’d I do? Let me know in the comments!

Version 13 is LIVE!

At LAST! It is uploaded and stuff is (mostly) done!

I don’t promise that absolutely everything works or looks the way it was supposed to–I find myself suddenly on a time crunch, mainly because CSS and HTML decided to go without their Midol today. *shakes fist at stupid code that took an hour to debug*

But I got mostly everything uploaded, and will continue to debug over the next couple of days. (Tell me, why is it that code can look absolutely PERFECT on my home computer, yet look like a piece of used toilet paper when I upload it? SIGH.)

Things that need to be fixed:
– the RSS page, because I kinda forgot about styling it
– new webmaster pic on contact page
– new link button on Affiliate page to reflect new layout
– Layout page, because the script that runs it appears to be broken
– writeup of Version 12 (which was just taken down)
– fanlisting page needs an intro
– one webdesign tuts page has some spacing issues

As you can see, there’s a lot to do yet, but it’s mostly small stuff. The big stuff–namely, the layouts and new content–is all up for your perusal! Enjoy the new look(s)–because there are multiples!

Gone: Delicious and Livejournal

After much deliberation and soul-searching (okay, more like apathy and frustration), I deleted and purged my Delicious and Livejournal accounts, so the Network page displays two less links. Two less profiles to keep up with, two less sites to update on slow-as-molasses internet. Also, two less things I have to update.

I got rid of the Delicious account because it took about 45 minutes to load just the start page on dialup, and I already have a Stumbleupon account, so I don’t really need two link-saving services. I got rid of my LJ because most of the people I followed on there are fairly inactive, and I don’t really blog about my everyday life anymore–at least, not in so many words. These days, there are Facebook statuses (stati?) for that.

I am contemplating, however, creating a personal Tumblr at some point, mainly to reblog interesting things I find on the Internets. Anything that’s not about my boring and repetitive life, or way too personal for my comfort, would be okay with me. 😛

FL Updates, and More Work Behind the Scenes

I updated a couple of moved/closed fanlistings over at Captivations, and I plan to do a thorough review of all the FL links on there right before v13 goes live as well. Just want to make sure I’m linking to the right stuff! 😀

Also, I’m still working like a fiend behind the scenes of WMW.org here. I just finished a complete revamp of the Webmistress page last night, and I’m planning the same kind of revamp for the College Knowledge section as well, because I’m not really satisfied with the page layout in that section right now–it feels kinda cramped.

All that remains to be done, after the College Knowledge revamp, is to debug all the layouts (WMW.org itself, FL page, news blog, network, links), make sure they run in all the main browser types, and then–joy of joys!–v13 will be uploaded! *happy squee dance* 😀 Now here’s hoping I can actually DO this before June ends. LOL

Hard at Work on v13

After a 10-month wait, I’ve finally been able to move ahead with backend code and frontend design for WMW.org, as well as the look for the update blog. Now I just have to finish coding the fanlistings page and come up with design and code for the links page…LOL

Really enjoying getting back into web design. I didn’t realize how stifled I felt until I got a hard drive I could actually keep saving and re-saving to without fear of losing data. 😀 (But I’ll never let a hard drive failure catch me off-guard again–I’ve got a big external hard drive and 3 flash drives as backups now.)

Anyhow, keep your browsers tuned to WMW.org in the next month or so–v13 will be a big (and cool) change when it comes!

I Swear I’m Here, LOL

Though not much has changed on the ol’ domain, I swear I’m here. Real life and illness have been keeping me from working, as well as the lack of my own computer yet. :/ (I guess I’ll be going to get a new computer soonish, if only to have an internal hard drive of my own again.) Did I mention I’ve about had it with these headaches that feel like the side of my head’s been set on fire? They need to go AWAY.

…Annnnnnnnnnd I realllllly hate dialup. *shakes fist at corporations that won’t get off their butts to install fast access out here*

[/whining]

I’ve been keeping Crooked Glasses updated weekly, but that’s been the limit of what I could do most recently. My novel is being worked on, very very slowly (hard to write when I can’t think clearly), and the layouts for WMW.org are coming along well also (amid a couple of rethinking sessions and setbacks). I’ve actually got a very new style on the way–I think it’ll work better for how the domain’s been growing and changing–WMW isn’t such an infant anymore, and appears to have grown out of its baby clothes. 😛

Please continue to watch this space, as I battle the Headache Monster, the Real-Life Monster, and the Technology Monster. ^_^;

New Twitter Widgets and New Link Exchange!

First, a great big welcome to OhMyDarling.org, our newest link exchange here at WMW.org. Go visit Sarah’s lovely domain (the Elliot Stabler fansite is my personal recommendation, but she has plenty more to see)!

Also, as you may have noticed from visiting the main page and from the sidebar to your right, I have discovered the magic of Twitter widgets. Thus, I’ve placed widgets on Crooked Glasses, WithinMyWorld.org, this little news page, and even Skies Over Atlas (the long-forgotten Twitter account I started with, lol).

Woot for actually getting stuff done around here! (Now I just need to prod myself to finish that one last article that needs spiffying in the College Knowledge section… -_- writer’s block FAIL.) 😛
